If you’re up for a free digital art lesson, then here you go. This one is titled “how to create a smoking Western type treatment in adobe illustrator”. The great folks over at tutsplus provide this tutorial for free.
When completed you should end up with an old wooden Western sign with smoking bullet holes going through it. This one is a little more cartoonish than realistic nevertheless a great tutorial.
There are a total of 32 steps and should take you about a half an hour from start to finish. Once completed you should end up with something that looks like this.
